Daniel Cooney is the creator of the crime fiction comic book series VALENTINE, THE ATOMIC YETI and the forthcoming graphic novel THE TOMMY GUN DOLLS, as well as the artist and author for the instructional books WRITING AND ILLUSTRATING THE GRAPHIC NOVEL and THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO FIGURE DRAWING FOR COMICS AND GRAPHIC NOVELS by BARRON'S. Cooney studied sequential art and illustration at The School of Visual Arts earning his BFA in 1998.
Cooney has illustrated licensed work for LUCASFILM, NBC/UNIVERSAL, MARVEL, WARNER BROS., TOPPS ENTERTAINMENT, and UPPER DECK. Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Galaxy, LOTR: Masterpieces, Heroes, Indiana Jones Masterpieces, Marvel Masterpieces, X-Men, Spider-Man, Dangerous Divas, Women of Marvel, Marvel's 70th Anniversary, Fantastic Four, Iron Man 2, Aliens vs. Predator, DC Comics 52, Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars Masterwork.
An instructor for the Academy of Art University, resides in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts with his wife, Carolina, their sons, Dashiell and Dexter, and their cat Greenly Beans.
